Busy as always trying new things and happy with the results so far...Lighthouse quilt now gone to the berth of a Tug Boat. Kaliedescope quilt turned out nice with the use of the variegated threads.
Quilts to be done for those who lost their homes in the forest fire that devastated Slave Lake.

Spring has sprung

Busy as always doing quilts and now have classes in my studio with 4 students doing a sampler quilt. Before they started the sampler, they built log cabin blocks and as pictured, one student brought hers back for show and tell.
Also took some time to make a few quilts for Japan, with the help of Debbie, Deb, Joan and Marilyn, we turned in 9 quilts. I took the time to quilt 7 of these quilts with poly batting and flannel backs, they should provide warmth for our Japanese friends.

Painting Stage.....yuck!

We got to the stage where the painting had to get done....batting got removed to the main floor of the house, and everything that could absorb paint smell got sealed in plastic....oh, what a job.
Done now and class starts tomorrow so I will post more pics after I have it ready for the class.

This is the new work stations for people learning to sew quilt blocks at DLS Quilting and Supplies.
Now I have to move all the other components to fit the spaces available...but what else do we have to do when mother nature dumps on us.

That wonderful month of March and all it's surprises. I couldn't resist the winter beauty out side my bedroom window. As the day goes on the weather gets wilder but it is a beautiful scene.

Studio update

Watch for pictures in the next 2 weeks as we transform the sewing area.
Have "Block Party" starting on April 4th with one spot open.
During our party, we will learn a block from cutting to sewing and thenhow to add more blocks to make a quilt. A new adventure for my friends and I. First block will be log cabin and then some variations of log cabins which is good for learning how to sew the straight 1/4" seam.

First Quilt

I have a special client who chose me to quilt her very first quilt....what an honor....
hope the picture does it justice....it was a large queen quilt for her bed and she took it home to share with her husband before she shared it with her quilting friends. What an honor indeed.
